Your culminating project for this term will be a portfolio that you, an aspiring literary critic, will present to a potential employer. The portfolio will include:
Each of the components will be graded separately, using the expository writing Common Core standards. The base rubric can be found here. You will also receive a writing process grade based on the drafts that you show me during conferences, as well as the improvements I see in your final portfolio. Overall, this portfolio will be worth 20% of your final grade for the term, so plan accordingly!

- a cover letter in which you highlight the skills you learned throughout the term as well as your development as a critic
- an infographic where you analyze an advertisement of your choosing (examples here and here)
- a brief review of the short film S is for Bird through the lens of your choosing
- a 2-3 page (double-spaced, in MLA format) literary analysis of Laurie Halse Anderson's Speak
